The satirical cartoon was published in the newspaper Masry El Youm in December 2012. It aims at criticising the Muslim Brotherhood for instrumentalising religion to persuade people to vote for the constitution in the referendum. The constitution was controversial because the drafting process was dominated by the Muslim Brotherhood and their Salafist allies, leading to the resignations of the secular-oriented members of the drafting committee. A Salafist lawyer and the new Secretary General of the National Center for Defense of Freedoms filed a lawsuit against the cartoonist, Doaa Eladl, in addition to the newspaper's owner and editor. Eladl was the first cartoonist to be charged with blasphemy after the election of the Muslim Brotherhood president Mohammed Morsi.
