Description
This episode made fun of various comments made by then president Mohamed Morsi and led to Bassem Youssef's arrest for insulting the president and showing contempt towards religion.
Youssef plays on various widely-held beliefs about Morsi and the Muslim Brotherhood, including that the then president was controlled by the Muslim Brotherhood Guidance Bureau and unable to make his own decisions and that he was totally inept and without any coherent policies.
Mohamed Morsi, the Muslim Brotherhood and their supporters were regularly ridiculed by Youssef on his show. Whilst some of his satire was based on political criticism, he also drew on cultural prejudices held by many secular-oriented Egyptians, that demonised the Brotherhood as 'backward' and treasonous.
