The figure of the mummy refers to Egypt, which is shouting, 'I'm free', which in turn, is painted in the colours of the Egyptian flag. It is interesting that the artist uses the figure of a 'mummy' to stand in for Egypt/Egyptians, given that it refers to the ancient Egyptian custom of preserving a body after death. In Western popular culture, ancient Egyptian mummies are usually represented as malevolent. Also of note, is that the artist uses English rather than Arabic.
