<text>In the wake of the 25 January 2011 Revolution, street art and graffiti flourished in Egypt. It played an important role in documenting different phases of the revolution and in commemorating the various victims of the violence perpetrated by different regimes against protesters, who were called 'martyrs' by supporters of the revolution. Public commemoration of the 'martyrs' of the revolution through graffiti as well as songs also aimed to remind Egyptians of the sacrifices made for the revolution and why they should, therefore, continue to support it. </text>
