Following protests on 28 January 2011, dubbed the 'Day of Rage', many police stations were burned down and the police and security forces withdrew from the streets. In the months following the stepping down of Hosni Mubarak, Egyptians participated in many protests, benefitting from their new found freedom. Many of these protests were in support of the aims of the revolution. However, as in this case, some protests were against the revolution and in support of the old regime, including the security apparatus.
