Description

The song was composed during the first 18 days of the Egyptian Revolution in 2011. It was one of the very first songs to celebrate the revolutionary feelings on Tahrir Square. The video shows protesters raising banners with their demands and dreams for a better future. It was reported that the song had over 2 million views on YouTube.
Cairokee band formed in 2009 but only really became famous after the 25 January 2011 revolution, with the release of 'Voice of Freedom'. They became one of the most successful bands in the Arab world. They are known for their political lyrics, although many of their songs deal with social issues facing young people. At the time of writing, they continue to play in Egypt, although they have faced issues of censorship. Several tracks on their 2017 album, 'A Drop of White' ('Nuqta Bayda') were not approved by the censor, leading the band to release the album on the internet.
