Description

"The army protected the revolution. Of course." Screenprint on paper. This image, part of a series, is an ironic statement, highlighting that, despite the rhetoric, the military did not protect nor support the revolution. The image refers to 'sitt al-banat', the so-called 'blue bra girl' -- the female protester who was beaten and dragged across the floor by military police in December 2011 -- and to the protesters whose eyes were shot out by snipers during the Mohamed Mahmoud clashes in November/December 2011.
Ganzeer became one of the most famous street artists following January 2011, particularly known for his anti-military images. He was forced to flee Egypt in 2014.
