Four Days of Death in December

Documentary short film

This is a widely-distributed, deeply disturbing film intended to highlight the disproportionately violent response of the SCAF regime against protesters. It consists of twelve minutes of raw testimony and graphic images of violence against protesters.

The 'Four Days of Death in December' refer to a violent crackdown by the military against protesters, who were staging a sit-in outside the Cabinet Building in downtown Cairo, in opposition to the appointment of a Mubarak-era politician, Kamal al-Ganzouri, as the new prime minister. The violence resulted in seventeen protesters killed.

Mosireen were a collective of film makers who came together to document the 2011 revolution. They were part of the protest movement and they wanted to challenge the official state media narratives, which were hostile to the revolution. In particular, the group wanted to document violence and human rights abuses perpetrated by the security forces.

They created the 858 Archive, which is a collection of video footage shot by Egyptian citizens of events during the period 2011-2013.
